Important man in Lucas’ life

Blog Photo:

The man on the right is Grandpa Jack, or Jack Schmidt. He's Justin Lucas's maternal grandfather. And from what I understand he played a strong role in raising Justin.

Grandpa Jack first took Lucas fishing when the boy was 10 years old. "I let him drive the boat," he said.

On the left is Kent Brown, host of Ultimate Bass Radio, and a friend of the family going way back.

Watch for Steve Wright's story on grandpa Jack coming this week.

J-Luke jukes way to first win

Turning 29 on Friday, it’s hard to imagine Justin Lucas has accomplished all he’s going to in professional bass fishing. But wherever he goes from here, it’ll be hard for him to top what he experienced in his home win in the Sacramento Bassmaster Elite at Sacramento River.

Lucas still looking for the big one

Justin Lucas just helped his cause. Only by a few ounces, but it's a step in the right direction. He caught that fish after catching several small ones. Behind the docks of King and Paradise Marinas.

The last one was on a bed and he spent about five minutes on it before it bit.

He's still looking for the big one to seal the deal. Yesterday he caught an 8-pounder doing the same thing.
